I like change, action and influence. I have seen the technologist’s perspective first-hand and understand the intersection between technology and the positive impact it can have on maritime safety and sustainability.
RightShip’s CEO Steen Lund accepted his position at the helm in December 2020 and is based in RightShip’s growing Singapore-based innovation hub.
Steen commenced his career in his native Denmark with integrated shipping firm AP Moller Maersk and remained with the company in management positions for 21 years. The roles took him to locations including Pakistan, Korea, India, Singapore and Hong Kong.
In 2010 he accepted a position as Executive Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific with Germanischer Lloyd in Shanghai. GL merged with DNV in 2013, at which point Steen returned to Singapore and spent altogether eight years with GL and DNV GL in Asia. He has since completed senior management positions with Radio Holland and Executive Ship Management.
Steen is a strong advocate for improved digitisation across the maritime industry. He draws on experiences including his position of council member of the Singapore Shipping Association, where he played pivotal roles as Chairman of the Technical Committee and the Digital Transformation Committee. He’s so committed to advancing maritime technology, that he had a desire to “get some skin in the game” and has subsequently become an angel investor for several technology companies that he seeks to see succeed.
Steen uses his digital expertise to build on RightShip’s core business position, while also executing a strategic roadmap to identify opportunities to further enhance RightShip’s digital capabilities.
When he’s not steering the future direction of RightShip, Steen enjoys running, golf, cycling and sailing with his family.
